nominationsThe NZ Web Fest #NZWF15 is excited to announce nominees across four award categories who’ll compete for the inaugural NZ Web Fest awards next month.

Among the nominees are shows and channels loved here in New Zealand and overseas. Some of the Best Web Series nominees have already taken away prizes from international web festivals.

Creators of three of the five Best Web Series nominees, Claris Jacobs (Nothing Much To Do), Roseanne Liang (Flat 3), and Roberto Nascimento (The Adventures of Suzy Boon), will present at the NZ Web Fest on 7 November. Also nominated for Best Web Series are Wellington-shot series Capital Culture and the second season of High Road from former Chills member Justin Harwood.

Magazine shows Hahana and NZ Off Air, short-form documentary show Human Postcards, documentary If These Walls Could Talk, and satirical political vlog White Man Behind A Desk compete for the Best Web Show award.

YouTube sensation Jamie Curry (Jamie’s World) has already been announced as a speaker at the NZ Web Fest. She’s now also named a nominee for the Best YouTube Channel Award, alongside gaming channel Azz Man; Ela Gale, who encourages followers to live a DIY life; and Shaaanxo, a makeup tutorial channel, and Shaaanxo Vlogs. Between them the five nominee channels have over4 million subscribers.

The channels nominated for the One To Watch award are YouTube vloggers Corey Lupton, Sally Jo, Sam’s Life, Scurb and The Sheep That Went Moo (Ollie Langdon).

The Web Fest judges, including International Digital Emmy Award winners David Stubbs and Thomas Robins (Reservoir Hill, Girl vs Boy), were announced last week (full announcement here: http://nzwebfest.com/nz-web-fest-scores-judges/ ). They’re now busy viewing the nominated works and voting.

The awards presentation will close out the NZ Web Fest on 7 November. Actress JJ Fong (Go Girls, Step Dave and upcoming web series AFK) will MC the awards.

All the work nominated is available to watch online free and legally, so anyone can check it out and see if they agree with the judges’ decisions.

The NZ Web Fest ( http://nzwebfest.com/ ) runs 7 November at Media Design School, Auckland.

Early bird tickets to the full-day event are on sale until midnight, Saturday 17th October. Tickets are available via the website or Eventbrite: http://www.eventbrite.co.nz/e/nz-web-fest-2015-tickets-18601215737
