In only two weeks, the biggest screen industry event of the year happens once again. The Big Screen Symposium brings together a compelling line-up of masterclasses, case studies, and discussions with leading practitioners from here and abroad.
2015 boasts a staggering line up – including director Jane Campion (TOP OF THE LAKE, THE PIANO), Academy and Golden Globe award winning actor Rachel Griffiths, US producer Jon Landau (AVATAR, TITANIC), Chilean filmmaker Sebastiàn Silva (CRYSTAL FAIRY, THE MAID), NZ screenwriter Anthony McCarten (THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING), Australian producer Liz Watts (LORE, ANIMAL KINGDOM), leading score composer Graeme Revell (SIN CITY, THE CROW), THE REHEARSAL director and producer Alison Maclean and Bridget Ikin, innovative filmmaker Florian Habicht (PULP, LOVE STORY), experienced screenwriter Duncan Sarkies (TWO LITTLE BOYS, SCARFIES), Venice Grand Jury winner Jake Mahaffy (FREE IN DEED), documentary makers Chris Pryor and Miriam Smith (THE GROUND WE WON, HOW FAR IS HEAVEN) and PR maven Anna Dean, as well a number of local panellists.
Now in it’s fourth year, the event has captured the hearts of the film community, being described as “an important meeting of minds” (director Taika Waititi), and “holding the industry in the palm of its hands” (sound engineer Ande Schurr).
The Big Screen Symposium is a chance for NZ filmmakers to come together and feel part of a community, while hearing first hand from filmmakers at the top of their game.
